Many people are participating in research out of a desire to share their opinions and our research-on-research demonstrated that sharing back data on other people’s opinions is a huge motivator to participants. Therefore tip 61 in our ENGAGE handbook encourages you to share back data with survey participants. You can read more about this tip via this link. If you are researching the general public in the US, from the same page you can access some ready-made data-shares, which you can deploy in your surveys right away. A big thank you goes to Active Measure, Innovate MR and RTi Research for collecting the data-share data and producing the images for you to use. We recommend, however, that you create your own library of data-shares and sprinkle them into your future surveys. This is a simple way to change the engagement from responding to participating and will improve the experience you are giving research participants.
